 Maintenance Department

The Union County Housing Authority Maintenance Department is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and maintenance of all Housing Authority owned and managed buildings and grounds. This includes the Union County Community Services Center, Kelly Apartments, Datesman Village Apartments, Meadow View Apartments, White Deer Commons, and Newky Apartments. Limited routine services are provided at Mifflin Place. The goal of the Maintenance Department is to perform as much maintenance as possible with the existing staff rather than contracting for private services. The maintenance department is responsible for providing a safe & decent place to live.

One hundred sixty-four elderly apartments and thirty-two family apartments located throughout Union County receive twenty-four hour emergency maintenance services. The amount of turf area that needs to be maintained is over 12 acres, and there are 441 parking places and associated driveways that are maintained though all types of weather. These properties are valued in excess of $12,000,000.

A maintenance superintendent, three maintenance helpers, two custodians, and a seasonal staff person provide a wide variety of services. Typically, 35 apartments need to be refurbished for new tenants each year and over 120 after-hours emergency service calls are received in addition to nearly 1,000 routine maintenance tasks.
